DesktopReady User Guide

DesktopReady™ is a fully-functional, Windows 10 cloud desktop built on Microsoft Azure—the highly secure high-performance cloud-computing platform. DesktopReady requires no upfront capital expenditure or setup costs. Available as a cloud service, DesktopReady is built on platforms that are PCI, HIPAA, and SOC2 compliant. End-users enjoy access to around-the-clock service desk so that you get quick answers to your questions and devote more time to running your business.

Schedule a demo

On the home page https://www.desktopready.com, click Schedule a demo, complete the popup form, and click Submit.

Following approval, you will receive an email message from DesktopReady. Click the link in the email to proceed to your account.

1. About this guide

This guide contains the steps for setting up your account, configuring your account, and using all of the features of DesktopReady. Learn how to find information, check status, and execute administrative functions such as creating remote desktop users and assign users to desktops.

2. Choose a plan

There are two types of accounts, Business and Individual. Follow the steps below to choose and configure your DesktopReady plan and sign up for an account:

1. Go to https://www.desktopready.com and click Buy desktops (Get Started -> Buy desktops).

2. On the next page, choose Business or Individual. Optionally, click the toggle buttons for the Microsoft 365 license and the Windows Professional endpoints.

3. Click Next to continue, and follow the instructions below to either Sign up for a Business Account or Sign up for an Individual Account.

3. Sign Up

Follow these steps to sign up for an account:

1. Select a Individual or Business plan. Check M365 licences and Non-Windows Professional Endpoints if required. See plan comparison

2. Select a Pooled or Personal desktops tab. Review the desktop models (e.g. Light, Medium and Heavy for Pooled desktops).

3. Select how many desktops you require for each model and add M365 licences. After you select the quantities for each model, click Next to continue.

NOTE: For a Business account, at least 5 desktops are required for the first order.

4. Review the Infrastructure Composition and corresponding Cost Summary to ensure that all of the desktops quantities are correct. To make amendments, click Back to return to the previous step and reconfigure the number of desktops. Click Next to proceed.

4a. If you have a DesktopReady account, click Sign In and enter credentials.

4b. If you DO NOT have a DesktopReady account, click Sign Up and fill in the form.

5. Click Proceed to payment.

First time purchase: If you are purchasing for the first time with DesktopReady, please be patient while your desktop is provisioned. Watch your email inbox for a message from our support team (support@desktopready.com sales-india@desktopready.com)that provides information about the next steps.

DesktopReady customer: Login to the portal and check that your current order is in a provisioning state. Proceed with the assignment from this order after you receive the email from support@desktopready.com sales-india@desktopready.com

4. Log In as Admin

On the DesktopReady home page, click Log in and enter your Username and Password. Make sure you select Log in as Admin.

5. Dashboard

The first page that you see after logging in is the admin Dashboard / Infrastructure page. It is the gateway to all of your users, desktops and tickets. Here you can:

  • Request desktops
  • Add users
  • Assign users to desktops
  • Access via local client desktop(s)
  • Access via web client desktop(s) through Microsoft RDweb Portal
  • Contact support

6. Buy Desktops

You can purchase more desktops to add to your account.

1. Go to Buy Desktops.

2. Follow the steps from

2. Enter first name, last name, e-mail and click Create.

3. To add another user, click the small + button and repeat the step above.

8. Upload users CSV

1. Go to Add users and select Upload users.

2. Download the sample file and make sure your column titles match those in the sample file.

3. To upload a CSV file, click Browse, locate the file, and click Open.

4. After the file is uploaded, click Create to add all of the users to your account.

9. Assign users to desktops

1. Go to Assign users. This page lists the users in your account and provides options to assign one or more available desktops to each user.

2. To change a desktop assignment, click the toggle to off for one user and then click the corresponding toggle on for another user.

3. After you finish configuring assignments, click Assign to save the changes.

10. Notifications

In the upper-right corner, click the Notifications to display a drop-down containing recent notifications.

11. Change password

In the top-right corner you can find the options to view the details of your profile, change your password, and logout.

12. Purchase history

1. Go to Purchase History to access your purchase records.

2. On the Purchase History page, you can see all of your orders and the status of each.

User access

14. Log in as a user

1. Return to the login page and click the Log in as User toggle. Enter the UPN for one of the users you added to the account and click Login. If you cannot find the UPN, check your mail or contact support.

2. Aftern clicking Login, you will be redirected to the Mircosoft website. Enter password and click Sign in.

15. User dashboard

After logging in as a user, this is how the dashboard appears. Move the mouse cursor to the left to display the menu.

16. Access desktop via Web Client

The user will be able to connect to virtual machines they have been assigned to using a web interface. This utility requires the Microsoft Azure authentication.

1. Open an incognito window in your browser. This is to make sure your Microsoft business account is not used, instead you use DesktopReady provided login.

2. Log in to M365 in your browser.

3. Go to DesktopReady and click Web Client.

4. Select one of the available desktops.

5. Check the boxes for the local resources that you will permit the web client to access, then click Allow.

6. Re-enter the username and password for the user.

7. The Windows desktop should appear. If you do not see any desktops assigned to your account, verify that you are using DesktopReady provided account to login

17. Access desktop via Thick Client (Windows)

The user will be able to connect to virtual machines they have been assigned to using dedicated software.

1. Download and install RD Client.

2. Launch the installer and select Subscribe.

3. Log in to M365 account, using your DesktopReady credentials.

4. Select one of the available desktops.

5. Re-enter the username and password for the user.

6. The Windows desktop will appear.

18. Access desktop via Thick Client (MacOS)

The user will be able to connect to virtual machines they have been assigned to using dedicated software.

1. Download and install RD Client.

2. Launch the installer and click Add Workspace to connect your VDI.

3. Enter e-mail or URL address and click Add.

4. Log in to M365 account, using your DesktopReady credentials.

5. Select one of the available desktops.

6. Re-enter the username and password for the user.

7. The Windows desktop will appear.
